課程概述

This class is designed for master students to develop a research proposal on topics in health policy and management field. The research proposal developed in this class should be highly relevant to students’ master thesis, if not identical. Additionally, students should be able to critically review research proposals presented by their classmates. 

課程目標
At the end of the course the students are expected to:
1. Apply the principles and technique of research methodology to address issues in health care organizations and systems (MS-D) 
課程要求
Students are required to
1. Write a mini proposal:
Each student needs to submit a mini proposal before the first class of the semester. This proposal should be no more than 10 pages, excluding figures, tables, and references. Sections to be included are:
1) Title, 2) Background and objectives (including current knowledge status of the study question, knowledge gap, study objectives, and anticipated contributions), 3) Literature review (please review at least 5-10 related articles), 4) Study methods (including study design, study subjects, data collection and analysis methods, and study limitations), and 5) References.
2. Present a research proposal through two presentations:
‧ First presentation. In the first presentation, students will describe the background (literature review), the conceptual framework, the research question (and hypotheses when applicable), and briefly discuss their proposed research methods (when applicable)
‧ Second presentation. In the second presentation, students will present a full research proposal. Particularly, the research methods should be discussed in details with anticipated results, limitations, implications.
a. The presentation time should be within 12-15 minutes.
b. The presentation slides should be shared with the discussant no later than a Tuesday 5pm (one day prior to the class) each week.
c. Students are encouraged to invite their advisors to join the class when they give the second presentation.

3. Deliver 2 discussant presentations:
The discussant presentation time should be within 5 minutes.
4. Actively participate in class discussion.
